Unifans, the owner and operator of the website
www.unifans.io and its corresponding web application(s), mobile application(s) and application(s) on other platforms or devices, is and remains committed to protecting the privacy and security of its users’ data and personal information. The present Privacy Policy intends to clarify how Unifans collects, gathers and uses personal information. In addition, the present Privacy Policy shall specify how Unifans protects personal information to allow users to make informed decisions when using the Website (as further defined) and the services provided on the Website.
Unifans recognizes the importance of protecting personal information and data submitted or transmitted on the Website. As a result, Unifans implemented various processes to protect the integrity and confidentiality of personal information obtained from the Website. The processes set forth by Unifans are described in the present Privacy Policy. Unifans encourages all users of the Website to read and review this Privacy Policy in its entirety to understand how Unifans collects, protects and uses personal information.
1. INTRODUCTION
Unifans operates as a membership platform, thereby allowing fans to subscribe to content provided by creators, and further enabling creators to be compensated by fans for the provision of content. Unifans seeks to ensure all Users benefit from an enriching experience while using, accessing or otherwise visiting the Website. In furtherance of this objective, it is necessary for all Users of the Website to understand how Unifans collects, uses, handled, stores and protects personal information obtained from the Website.
2. DEFINED TERMS
The following capitalized terms, when employed in this Privacy Policy, including hereinabove in the introduction, shall be defined as follows:
“Account” shall mean a User’s account created on the Website.
“Content” shall mean all content posted, shared, uploaded and published by Creators on the Website, including, without limitation, articles, novels, illustrations, comics, podcasts, videos, images, text, scripts, graphics, interactive features, and other materials.
“Creators” shall mean content creators who upload Content on the Website, and obtain compensation for such Content by way of subscriptions purchased via coins by subscribers or fans on the Website.
“Fans” shall mean users of the Website who purchase or otherwise subscribe to Content or to a Creator’s page on the Website.
“Non-Personal Information” shall mean information that cannot be used to personally identify a specific individual, such as anonymous usage data, general demographic information, platform types, preferences submitted, and preferences generated based on data submitted and number of clicks.
“Personal Information” shall mean information that personally identifies or relates to a specific individual.
“Privacy Policy” or “Policy” shall mean the present Privacy Policy, including all revisions and updates made to this Privacy Policy.
“Unifans” shall mean 1000353701 ONTARIO INC., the Ontario corporation that owns and operates the Website.
“Users” shall mean all users of the Website, including both Creators and Fans.
“Website” shall mean
www.unifans.io and all of its corresponding mobile applications, web applications and other products.
Any capitalized terms in this Privacy Policy that are not defined shall have the meanings set forth in Unifans’ Terms and Conditions.
3. CONSENT
By accessing and using the Website, Users accept to be bound by the terms of the present Privacy Policy. Users consent to Unifans’ collection, storage, usage and disclosure of Personal Information as described in this Privacy Policy. Further, by using the Website, uploading Content, purchasing a subscription or purchasing Content, Users shall be deemed to have accepted the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
4. APPLICATION
Upon using the Website, and/or providing Personal Information thereon, Users consent to Unifans’ collection, usage, and disclosure of Personal Information based upon the terms of this Privacy Policy. Users further consent to receiving emails from Unifans or otherwise being contacted, as described in this Privacy Policy. This Privacy Policy shall apply to all Users of the Website, whether or not Users register or create an Account on the Website.
This Privacy Policy explains how Unifans handles and treats Personal Information collected or gathered from the Website. Personal Information may also be referred to as “personally identifiable information” in data protection and privacy laws and regulations. This Privacy Policy shall apply only to Unifans’ Website websites and sites, and not to any third party websites. Unifans has no control over how third parties manage or use Personal Information collected..
5. PERSONAL INFORMATION COLLECTION
Unifans may collect both Non-Personal Information and Personal Information from and about Users. Personal Information consists of information that can be used to personally identify a User, such as the User’s name, phone number, address, email address, IP address and social media profile.
Upon a User’s usage, accessing or otherwise visiting the Website, Unifans may collect Personal Information or data from such User. Unifans shall collect Personal Information that Users voluntarily provide to Unifans directly. Users may provide Personal Information to Unifans when creating an Account on the Website. As part of the Account creation process, a User may specify its name, email address, contact information, payment information and other information.
Creators shall be responsible for creating a page on the Website that describes the Creator’s Content and any benefits offered by the Creator. Creators shall further be responsible for opening or otherwise establishing an account with any of Unifans’ payment partners, namely, PayPal, Payoneer, Wise. Creators may need to provide bank account information for purposes of processing payments. Moreover, Creators may be required to provide the following information on the Website: the Creator’s first and last name, address, country of citizenship, date of birth, phone number and email address.
When a User proceeds with making a purchase on the Website, the User acknowledges that Stripe or the third party payment processor may collect the User’s name, address, credit card type and the last four digits of the User’s credit card number. Unifans shall use such information solely to provide the Content or subscription purchased. With regard to the processing of payments made by Users, Unifans shall not retain financial information, such as a credit card number. Instead, all such financial information shall be directly provided to Stripe, Unifans’ third party payment processor. Stripe’s usage and handling of Users’ Personal Information, including financial information, shall be governed by Stripe’s Privacy Policy.
To be eligible to receive compensation for providing Content on the Platform, Creators need to submit their official full name. Depending on the currency selected for payment and earning withdrawal purposes, Creators may need to provide Unifans with their account number and ID, country of citizenship, bank account information, the address of the account holder as well as the name of the recipient of the payments. Creators shall be responsible for ensuring all information transmitted to Unifans in connection with payments and their accounts is true, accurate and complete. Unifans may, at its discretion, require proof that the account held with Unifans’ payment partner is owned by the Creator.
If a User logs in to its Account on the Website via a third party site or service, such as Facebook, Unifans may obtain information from the third party site or service. Such information may include the User’s log-in credentials. Unifans may obtain information regarding the User’s account on the third party site or service, such as the User’s number of friends or followers, IP address, location data and other public information available on the User’s account. Unifans may also obtain information regarding the User’s Internet usage, visits, and online activity, including the type of device used as well as search history. This information may be voluntarily provided by the User or given to Unifans by an authorized third party.
Unifans may conduct surveys in connection with the Website. Participation in surveys shall be voluntary. Users may provide their first and last names, email addresses and passwords to access any surveys. Unless otherwise stated, all data collected in connection with a completed survey shall remain anonymous and shall not allow for the identification of the User who completed the survey.
Unifans shall also automatically collect information obtained through cookies, pixel tags, web beacons, user activity and JavaScript.
6. NON-PERSONAL INFORMATION COLLECTION
Unifans may obtain Non-Personal Information from Users such as the type of browser used to access the Website, the device from which a User connected to the Website, and the time and date at which a User accessed the Website. Such Non-Personal Information shall not allow for the identification of a particular User. Non-Personal Information may be used by Unifans to operate the Website, to maintain the Website, to obtain statistics regarding the usage of the Website and for other commercial or business purposes.
Non-Personal Information is obtained through cookies or small text files, which may include an anonymous unique identifier. Cookies may be sent to a User’s browser from Unifans’ servers, upon which the cookies are stored on the User’s computer hard drive or device. Cookies enable Unifans to collect Non-Personal Information about a User, thereby allowing Unifans to keep a record of the User’s preferences with respect to utilizing the Website, both on an individual and aggregate basis.
7. PERSONAL INFORMATION USAGE AND SHARING
Unifans may use a User’s Personal Information to communicate with the User, provide support or respond to the User’s inquiries. Unifans may also email or send Users promotional offers, opportunities and updates that may be of interest. If a User does not wish to receive such offers and communications, such User should send Unifans a request by way of email to support@unifans.io.
In addition, Unifans may disclose a User’s Personal Information if required to do so by law, a court order or if a User violates or attempts to violate any policies set forth by Unifans, including its Terms and Conditions.
Upon subscribing to a Creator’s page on the Website, the User acknowledges that Unifans may share the User’s ID, messages sent on the Website and payment information with the Creator.
Unifans may use Non-Personal Information to improve the Website and customize Users’ experience. Unifans may also aggregates Non-Personal Information to analyze patterns of usage with respect to the Website.
Users acknowledge and agree that Unifans shall use Users’ Personal Information to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected, to personalize Users’ experience, and to improve the Website, all of such usage shall be based on this Privacy Policy. Unifans’ usage of Users’ personal information shall be limited to the extent required by Unifans’ legitimate business interests, and in accordance with the requirements set forth by applicable data privacy laws.
Unifans reserves the right to use Users’ Personal information to fulfill the following purposes:
- Fulfill the purpose for which the User provided the Personal Information;
- Satisfy the User’s request or inquiry in the manner and to the extent explicitly authorized by the User;
- Provide the Content, options and subscriptions available for purchase on the Website;

- Register and manage the User’s Account on the Website;
- Provide customized offers, personalized experiences and Content based on the User’s interests and saved preferences;

Unifans shall also use Personal Information for business and commercial purposes as permitted by data privacy laws in the United States, including, without limitation, the California Consumer Privacy Policy (CCPA).
In accordance with applicable legislation, Unifans shall not use additional categories of Personal Information for purposes beyond those specified in this Privacy Policy, unless the User provided its prior written consent or with notice.
Unifans shall not sell, trade, rent or otherwise share a User’s Personal Information with third parties without the User’s consent. Notwithstanding the foregoing, Unifans may share a User’s Personal Information with vendors and other third-party providers who perform services for Unifans in connection with the Website. The vendors and third party providers used by Unifans shall only collect, use and disclose Personal Information to the extent necessary to allow them to perform the services they provide for Unifans in connection with the Website.
Unifans reserves the right to share Personal and Non-Personal Information with authorized third-party providers to allow such authorized third-party providers to:
perform other duties that Unifans delegated or subcontracted to them, including securing profiles, providing customer support, processing payments, fulfilling transactions, verifying customer data and providing analytical data;
protect the Website against attacks or other malicious activity;
provide analytics and services relating to calculating visitors, transactions, usage and compliance with legal standards.
8. PERSONAL INFORMATION SAFEGUARDING
Unifans implements reasonable precautions and follows industry best practices in order to protect Personal Information against unauthorized access and disclosure. Unifans takes necessary precautions, at all times, to protect and safeguard Personal Information from unauthorized disclosure, damages or other breaches. Unifans employs a number of different methods to validate the authenticity of Users.
However, these measures do not guarantee that Personal Information shall not be unlawfully accessed, disclosed, altered or destroyed. Unfortunately, the transmission of personal information on the Internet is never fully secure. By using the Website, Users agree to assume the risks connected with transmitting information over the Internet.
Users may contribute to helping protect their Personal Information by selecting a difficult password, and logging off from their Account on the Website when using a shared device.
9. RIGHTS REGARDING PERSONAL INFORMATION
Users shall have the right to be informed of Unifans’ collection and usage of their Personal Information. To exercise their right to be informed, Users may email support@unifans.io to request the Personal Information collected and the usage made by Unifans. When submitting any request to Unifans, Users shall be required to validate their identity by completing the verification requirements set out by Unifans.
If a User finds or believes that the Personal Information held by Unifans is erroneous, unusable or false, the affected User may request the rectification or correction of the data. If a User determines that the Personal Information held by Unifans is incomplete, the User may request additions or supplements to such information. All such requests shall be transmitted by a User to Unifans by way of email.
Users of the Website shall have the right to request the deletion of Personal Information collected by Unifans. To exercise this right, Users shall send an email to Unifans’ attention. If a User’s Personal Information is required to provide access to the Website or to fulfill a transaction, Unifans reserves the right to deny the User’s request for deletion.
California Residents
California privacy laws allow California residents to request information regarding the disclosure of Personal Information to third parties for direct marketing purposes. California residents shall benefit from the right to access, which shall consist of the right to be informed of Unifans’ collection and usage of Personal Information. California residents shall further benefit from the right to obtain copies of the Personal Information held or stored by Unifans. If a User wishes to obtain a copy of the Personal Information possessed or otherwise held by Unifans, such User shall submit a written request to Unifans’ attention by email.
Nevada Residents
Residents of the State of Nevada shall benefit from the right to disallow the sale or licensing of their Personal Information by third parties. To exercise the right to opt out of same, Users shall send an email to support@unifans.io.
European Union Residents
Residents of the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA) are subject to the General Data Protection 2016/679, commonly abbreviated as GDPR. The GDPR governs the collection, usage and transfer of personal data. The GDPR grants its data subjects additional rights regarding the usage, collection and handling of their personal data.
To exercise any of the rights granted to Users under this Privacy Policy or by applicable laws, Users may send Unifans a written request by way of email. For the request to be valid, it must identify the User in a clear manner, thereby allowing Unifans to properly validate the User’s identity. Secondly, the request must specify the extent of the Personal Information requested and the justification for such request. If the User’s request is founded, Unifans shall proceed in accordance with the request. Please note that Unifans may use a User’s Personal Information to confirm the User’s identity and satisfy the request. Unifans reserves the right to refuse a request if it is unfounded or does not comply with the terms set forth in this Privacy Policy.
10. PERSONAL INFORMATION OF CHILDREN
The Website is not intended for children under the age of sixteen (16). Unifans does not knowingly target children or collect Personal Information from children. If a User is under the age of sixteen (16), the User should refrain from using the Website. If Unifans discovers that a child under the age of sixteen (16) has provided Personal Information on the Website, Unifans shall delete the child’s Personal Information as soon as reasonably possible. 11. PERSONAL INFORMATION STORAGE
Unifans shall maintain and store a User’s Personal Information for the duration during which the User has an active Account, or for the duration required by Unifans to provide the subscription or Content purchased, as applicable. Unifans may retain a User’s Personal Information for a longer period to comply with legal obligations. In addition, Unifans may hold Personal Information in its servers for payment purposes until all funds owed have been paid or to resolve disputes.
Further, Unifans reserves the right to store and maintain Personal Information on file indefinitely if permitted by applicable laws and regulations. Once Unifans has removed a User’s Personal Information from its servers, Unifans may maintain Non-Personal Information in its servers, indefinitely, for analytical and statistical purposes.
12. Links to Other Websites
The Website may include links to or compatibility with other websites or applications. Despite including links to other websites, Unifans shall not be responsible for the privacy practices employed by the third party websites or applications linked on the Website. The present Privacy Policy applies solely to Personal Information collected by Unifans through and on the Website.
The present Privacy Policy shall not apply to a third party website or application linked on the Website. The privacy policy of the third party websites or applications linked on the Website shall apply to a User’s access or use of such website or application. Unifans therefore encourages Users to review the privacy statements of other websites and applications prior to proceeding to use same.
13. CHANGES TO THE PRIVACY POLICY
Unifans reserves the right to change, modify or update this Privacy Policy at any time. Unifans may update this Privacy Policy for compliance purposes if any laws or industry standards were to change. If Unifans makes changes to or otherwise revises this Privacy Policy, the revised Privacy Policy shall be published on the Website. Periodic reviews of the present Privacy Policy shall ensure Users are aware of the Personal Information Unifans collects, how such is used, and under which circumstances it is disclosed.
Any such modifications to this Privacy Policy shall become effective upon the date at which the revised Policy is published on the Website, or upon the date at which Users were provided with notice of the revised Policy, whichever is earlier. Unifans may also use a User’s Personal Information to send marketing materials, a newsletter and other promotional communications. Users may unsubscribe to Unifans’ newsletter by following the instructions contained at the bottom of Unifans’ newsletter sent by email. A User may also unsubscribe to certain emails or notifications by making the appropriate changes in the “Account Setting” portion of the User’s Account.
